Enjoy the 2015 resurrection of the famous Class J 4-8-4 number 611 to
operation. The mighty 611 ran until 1959 for Norfolk and Western,
later ran from 1982-1994, and is back once again. In this first of
three dvds (See the set specials below volume 3) we showcase the first
public event for 611 at the North Carolina Transporation Museum in
Spencer with a photo special. Next we watch the homecoming trip with
some scenes between Spencer and Roanoke along the Southern and N&W

This video captures much of the first operations for this newly
restored Nickel Plate 2-8-4 by the Ft. Wayne Historical Society in the
1970's. We capture the first run in 1979, plus first runs of 1980,
and many of the runs on the Toledo, Peoria, & Western Railroad, which
hosted the 765 for several weeks of break-in freights and excursions.
This was like real steam railroading with helper service and freight

Here is an interesting look at this famous former Reading Railroad
4-8-4, that was rebuilt to operate in the eastern U.S. for the
American Freedom train in 1975 and 1976. After a bit of history
showing some of these runs, we see the transition into a new paint
scheme for the Chessie Steam Specials which operated in 1977 and
1978. Most footage shot by Greg Scholl on Super 8 sound film, and

1979 the Southern Railway leased former Royal Hudson 4-6-4 number 2839
for two years of excursion duty. In March 1979, still in the splendid
Canadian Pacific lettering we enjoy 2839 on a two day one-way
excursion from Alexandria to Atlanta over the Southern Mainline
trackage. Thus begins a two-year
stint of exciting action of a great locomotive playing out its final

In 1992 Union Pacific 4-6-6-4 Challenger number 3985 made a big trip
east from Wyoming to CSX country to participate in the Santa Claus
train on the Clinchfield Railroad line. We cover several days of the
operations, with former L&N, C&O, Clinchfield, and B&O trackage
covered in November weather.
No diesel helper was used behind 3985 on these trips, and it was in
Union Pacific Livery until it was

Louisville and Nashville 4-6-2 #152 is one of the oldest (1905) operating Pacific type steam locomotives in the United States, and is currently run at the Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven, Kentucky. However back in the late 1980s 152 was a mainline excursion engine in Kentucky. 1988 footage has been re-edited in 2008 and converted to DVD, with exciting

Pere Marquette 2-8-4 number 1225 operates on several freight specials that are
the first-ever photo trains for this Lima-built Berkshire type steam locomotive.
Several 1940 and 1950's period freight cars are used, plus the engine is put back
