of 2001. This video features two of the test runs in September, and 3 fall

Norfolk and Western Class J, 4-8-4 number 611 steams from Cincinnati to
Danville on a round-trip in 1986 followed by a round-trip to Portsmouth,
Ohio. These trips sponsored by the Cincinnati Railroad Club marked the first
time 611 had run a trip to Portsmouth, and that trip carried over 1300
riders, a record for an NS excursion. You'll also see some cab scenes inside

In 1993, Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 #765 was transformed with a few
modifications into a C&O 2-8-4 as both Lima-built locomotive types were
similar. You'll see a round-trip to Russell, Kentucky from Cincinnati,
including a Cab ride at 60 MPH, and enjoy some runs along the New River in

Number 614 was operated between Huntington and Hinton, West Virginia on real coal trains. They were doing this to test the feasibility of

Former Southern Railway 2-8-2 number 4501 is the star of this program as we
begin with historic film footage of 4501 as engine 12 on the Kentucky and
Tennessee Railroad in the early 1960s. 1991 coverage includes several
passenger excursions, and one-way freight run, plus the 25th Anniversary of
the NS Steam program in Chattanooga featuring a tripleheader with 4501, 611,

again. However, our video will document some of the last runs of this magnificent steam locomotive as it
