| South African Railways class GMAM Beyer-Garratt 4-8-2 + 2-8-4 with the Cape Town to Port Elizabeth train on Mantague pass July 1977. This photo required some hiking downgrade, on a very scenic section of railway. We spent the better part of a morning shooting several Garratt-hauled freights and this long-distant passenger train, on what was the last premier passenger train duty for South African Garratts. |
